My Sample Stash

Recently, Dovey at Cute and Mundane posted a picture of her perfume sample collection. I thought it would be fun to show you my perfume samples.

I love to get samples and try new scents before I buy them. I also like the variety of having a few different ones to choose from.

I store all of my favorites in a votive holder I got from my mom (I think it was from her, but it has been with me for a long time). I am no perfume expert, but I will do my best to describe what I am enjoying lately.

I am loving Coach Poppy for a clean scent with a touch of fruity sweetness. Hanae Mori Butterfly is a sweet warm vanilla scent. It is one of my all time favorites, and I have a full sized bottle also. Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Enchanted is very sweet with a touch of warmth. It isn't one that I plan to purchase the full size of after I use my samples though.

Lancome La Vie Est Belle is a new favorite. It has a slightly warm floral scent when sprayed, but it dries down to a sweet vanilla. I am definitely getting a full size when this runs out! Betsey Johnson Too Too is a fruity and girly scent. I have a rollerball of it that I recently finished. Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb is a heavily spiced masculine scent, but it has an underlying warmth that makes it more unisex. Billionaire Boyfriend is clean and slightly warm, also a unisex scent.

Do you collect samples? I'd love to see them!

Guerlain Turandot Palette: Swatches and Review

Since Guerlain changed the formula of their eyeshadow quads, the palettes have been some of my favorite. Smooth and silky without being sheer or chalky, they all have beautiful color combinations.

Turandot is a gorgeous combination of shimmering gold and brown with two matte mauve colors in the middle.

The colors are nicely saturated while remaining easy to apply and blend. The variations in texture are perfect for a cohesive look in one palette.
Both mattes are smooth and the shimmery colors are refined.

The gold is more peach compared to the ultra shimmery gold in Chanel Topkapi. I didn't find any color similar to the warm mauve in the top of the palette. The deeper matte color is warmer and lighter than the matte color in Chanel Berry-Rose. The shimmery brown in Turandot is similar to Burberry Midnight Brown, but the Burberry is more reflective and slightly cooler in tone.

Guerlain Turandot is a gorgeous combination of bronzed taupe and gold, with matte colors to add warmth. The color combination in Turandot is unique and beautiful for fall!

Turandot FOTD

Apologies for the overly warm lighting here. Today was very sunny.
I am using the Guerlain Turandot Palette along with the Perles du Dragon Meteorites.

Guerlain Perles du Dragon Meteorites: Swatches and Review

Guerlain Holiday showcases a gorgeous version of Meteorites called Perles du Dragon.

This is my first experience with Meteorites, and I am happy I took the plunge.

The packaging is breathtaking. Perles du Dragon would look amazing on a vanity or makeup table.
Inside the container are pearls of different colors and sizes. Perles du Dragon are different shades of mauve, gold, and cream.

They are softly shimmery, not glittery or shiny.

Swatches are basically useless since the effect is so subtle. I made a heavy swatch with the included sponge on my arm. If you look to the left, you will see my bare arm. To the right, the Meteorites give a sheer pinkish glow with soft silver shimmer.

Meteorites smell amazing too! They have a light violet scent that Guerlain uses frequently.

Here I have applied them over my my usual makeup, all over the face. They are subtle enough to use as a setting powder. I imagine I will love the effect this winter since my skins tends to get drier and more dull with the cold.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with my Dragon Meteorites. The packaging is stunning as is the product inside. Perles du Dragon do not disappoint!

Random Things I am Loving

My baby is growing up. Sad but adorable too!

Hourglass Ballet Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick. I prefer bright pink to red, and I love the long lasting matte finish.

Finally new Mumford & Sons!

Our baby chicks are now grown, and we have seen a drastic reduction in bugs. Eggs are starting to appear as well!
