Becca Sylph Soft Touch Blush: A Natural Pink Glow

My love for Becca is no secret. I love the textures, colors, packaging, and the natural beauty aesthetic they cater to.

Sylph Soft Touch Blush is another great product.

Sylph is a light neutral pink- not too warm or cool toned.

It has silver shimmers which do not show after I apply it.

This blush has a soft, slightly powdery texture, but it never appears chalky on the face.

On my cheeks it gives a nice pink glow that matches a wide range of looks.

I am fairly pale and love this blush, but I think this color would be lost on a deeper complexion. Pale girls should definitely check out Becca Sylph!

Hourglass Visionaire Eyeshadow Duo in Exhibition Swatches and Review

I haven't tried anything from Hourglass before, but I have heard wonderful things about their eyeshadow duos.

They come in a shiny silver compact with the Hourglass symbol etched on the front.

The mirror swivels open, and inside are two complimentary eyeshadow colors with a small brush.

Exhibition has a silvery light purple and a deep smoky eggplant. Both are slightly shimmery and richly pigmented.

This is a beautiful combination of colors! They are so soft and blend perfectly. Even the brush is useful.

I think I may need some more Hourglass in my life.

NARS Madere Pure Matte Lipstick Swatches and Review

Madere is a light beige from NARS Pure Matte lipstick collection. Pure Matte Lipstick is said to be a comfortable matte finish with bold color.

I like the small sleek tube this comes in. The Pure Matte formula isn't overly thick or drying, but I can't say it is comfortable on my lips either.

I knew Madere would be a hard color to pull off, and I still haven't managed to make it work for me. Straight out of the tube it is concealer lips. I would like to layer it with the right gloss for a more flattering nude look.

So have you tried Madere? How did you make it work for you?

Becca Gypsy Pressed Shimmer Powder Swatches and Review

Yep, more Becca....

Becca Pressed Shimmer Powder in Gypsy is a pink highlighter, but it is so much more than just that.

It looks dark enough to be a blush on its own. While it would be a subtle blush on my light skin, I prefer it over pink blushes to give them dimension and glow.

Gypsy is never frosty or glittery looking. It is subtle and glowing, a highlighter all grown up :)

Gypsy is a light cool toned pink with golden shimmer. It is a very unique color, and is quickly becoming well used in my makeup routine.

New Dior Addict Lipstick Swatches and Review

Dior has revamped its Addict line of glossy lipsticks. It seems like most brands are releasing a gloss/lipstick hybrid this spring.

The packaging is bulky and square, but oh so pretty. In the light it flashes pink, blue, and yellow iridescence.

The silver knob on the end pulls out to reveal the tube of color.

I chose Baby Rose 561, a cool light pink with silvery shimmer.

The color in the tube is much brighter than on the lips.

On average I get about 2 hours before I need to reapply. That isn't much of a surprise since the formula is so sheer and full of slip. It feels comfortable on the lips, and gives a full glossy effect. Overall I am happy, but I plan to try a different color with less shimmer next time.

Bobbi Brown Peony & Python Set Swatches and Review

Bobbi Brown snatched more of my money this spring with her Peony & Python collection. I got both the palette and set.

This set was exclusive to Neiman Marcus. It has a full sized Black Mauve Shimmer Ink, Pink Peony Illuminating Bronzer (a color only in the set), and Pink Lilac Brightening lip gloss. Also included are a mini face brush and eyeliner brush.

The bag initially caught my eye, and it is available separately as well.

The colors included are gorgeous! I am loving the "bronzer". It is a lovely bright pink blush with golden shimmer. Thankfully most of the shimmer does not translate to the cheek, and you are left with a soft glow.

Black Mauve is a plummy brown with a bit of shimmer to keep it from looking too flat. It is a nice alternative to black liner when you want a softer look.

I am surprised at how much I love the gloss. It is a pale cool pink. It gives a nice shimmer to the lips without being frosty. The formula is thick without being sticky, and it smells like cake. It looks great alone or over lipstick.

Here is Pink Peony compared to MAC Dollymix. Dollymix is warmer and frostier.

Pink Peony next to Antigua Illuminating Bronzer:

Overall I am happy with the colors in this set, but the mini brushes are pretty useless. I wish the price point had been a bit lower and the brushes were not included. I am really enjoying the colors and the cute little case though!

Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color Swatches and Review

Bobbi has a new line of lipsticks out this spring called Rich Lip Color with SPF 12. It promises crisp saturated color in one swipe and moisture, so lips look better with wear.

Why do I buy things in pairs? I have no idea.

I decided to be safe and go with soft neutrals I know I will wear often. Bare Pink on the left and Lilac on the right.

After wearing these for a few days, I can say Bobbi isn't lying! These deliver full color without being heavy or dry. My lips were in better condition at the end of the day. They are definitely moisturizing.

My closest comparisons:

Lilac is a cool medium pink without being too light or stark. Bare Pink is a peachy nude with a tiny bit of pink.

Lilac and Pink Peony Illuminating Bronzer on cheeks:

Bare Pink plus Antigua Illuminating Bronzer on cheeks:

I got about 3-4 hours of wear out of these. They are comfortable on the lips too. I will definitely be trying out more colors from this line. Not that I need more lipstick......

Bobbi Brown Peony & Python Palette Swatches and Review

In a fit of recent Bobbi Brown purchasing, I picked up Bobbi Brown's latest eyeshadow palette. It has a cute flower and snakeskin design by Tibi (I have no idea who that is but I am not schooled in the fashion world). I don't love the zipper closure, but I still heart the overall look of the case.

Inside are six different colors, ranging from soft grey to deep purple. There are a variety of finishes too.

The top has a light shimmery grey, a sparkling light purple, and a matte dove grey. The second row has a medium metallic grey, matte deep purple, and a matte black.

I wouldn't call any of these overly pigmented, but I love the soft look they give. The matte shades are the most finicky, but not impossible to work with. They were difficult to swatch, but they applied to the eyes smoothly.

This isn't a ground breaking palette or anything shockingly new, but it is a pretty color combination inside of a pretty case. I am very happy with this palette, and with Bobbi Brown this spring :)
